Kicked off my heater backdate project today. Backdating the air system to the older style is easy to do, and Porsche sells the parts you'll need, or you can visit your favorite used parts dealer.
You'll need the following parts: Left hot air duct, I put a screw into each plastic nut to pretty well close off those holes.

The left hot air duct is metal, and the right duct is plastic, while the right hand engine cover and plate are metal. The right air duct support is to bolt the right air duct to the larger plastic cover over the engine. I didn't use it, as things seem tight enough without it, however, we'll see if over time I need to add the support.
Installation is straight forward, take the existing blower and hoses out of the engine. The range-topping Turbos are already four-wheel drive, and only available with a PDK automatic transmission.
Obviously, that paddle-shifted automatic is available on all the Carreras and Targas optionally - a seven-speed manual being standard. The new carrera T left is a slightly more focussed machine.
On paper it's very similar to the standard Carrera but on the road there are tangible differences Still with me? It seems not, Porsche adding a new model, the Carrera T into the mix.

The T comes with a few options not offered on the Carrera. The T feels surprisingly different. That T might stand for Touring, but the standard Carrera is the more comfortable long-distance car, the T more engaging.

I always loved the sliding doors of some of our previous family cars in such situations, but with a bit of planning we managed just fine with the Carrera. It was fine when I parked as I managed to find a space with nothing either side, but on our return a pair of cars had joined us.
Even surrounded, access was easy enough, without having to resort to pulling the car out of the space to get the kids in. Falling down the rabbit hole, I discovered for very boring reasons only an anorak cares about that just 3 years were the best platform for backdating — If I wanted to do this right, it would have to be in this range of years.
With this knowledge and a fantasy shopping list in hand, I started saving and dreaming.

The savings were there, the career was there, and the garage full of tools was there.
